WLAN simulation / WLAN planning

Why do a WLAN simulation or WLAN planning beforehand?

Nowadays, many electricians offer to install WLAN without planning.
However, there is often a lack of knowledge about this technology.
Like sound and lighting, WLAN illumination is a specialist area in which it can be worth consulting WLAN specialists.
It is not just a matter of creating the necessary WLAN coverage, but of determining the exact WLAN requirements.
These include user density, WLAN data transfer rates, external WLAN interference sources and, of course, WLAN security.
With WLAN for the home or a single office, it may be sufficient to simply place “any WLAN access point” anywhere.
For larger workgroups, office buildings with several floors, hotels, schools or other buildings, it makes sense to carry out a WLAN simulation before installing the cables.
This way, the cables can be laid directly where they will be needed later and you get a good WLAN that you can work with straight away.

Simulation Discussion

Our trained and experienced Wi-Fi experts will plan your Wi-Fi, whether over several floors, outdoors, in a sports stadium or in a hotel.
We advise you on the choice of WLAN access points, placement and testing of WLAN coverage.
On request, we can also offer you the WLAN as a complete managed service.

First of all, we need building plans, escape route plans or similar for the Wi-Fi simulation to get an idea of the location for which we are to carry out the Wi-Fi simulation.
We also need the dimensions and building materials to be able to take the Wi-Fi attenuation into account.
Here you can also draw in the areas where the WLAN is required.

As soon as we have the plans, we need the requirements.
How much data should be transmitted via the WLAN?
Where can the WLAN access points be installed?
What specifications regarding
Fire protection and appearance must be observed.
Would you like to use VoIP telephony via the WLAN, or “only” print and email?
We are also happy to help you draw up the requirements profile.
As soon as the WLAN requirements have been defined, we start planning.
Once the planning is complete, or in the case of larger WLAN projects, once individual phases have been completed, you will receive a report.

It can be useful, and we recommend it, to carry out a WLAN reference measurement (active site survey or passive site survey).
This can be used to measure the WLAN attenuation values, identify sources of interference and, if necessary, adjust the WLAN planning.

If you do not know the damping or the material properties, or if you are not sure, the measurement can also be carried out before the simulation.
If these values are known during the simulation, the measurement will confirm the simulation.

Upon completion, you will receive documentation for your records, which you can use to configure the WLAN access points.
All important WLAN key figures are documented and displayed graphically.
