Internet on the move: With ASCEND now also in emergency vehicles

WLAN and network specialist ASCEND from Nuremberg has now equipped an emergency vehicle belonging to RKT Rettungsdienst OHG from Regensburg with a mobile bonding router. This ensures that the Internet can be used on the move anytime and anywhere – an advantage that can be vital in this environment.

Emergency services benefit in particular from the advantages of modern wireless communication. Whether it’s to send patient data to the hospital or to maintain an overview and retrieve information from the cloud when coordinating larger operations with a large number of emergency services.

The Internet on the move must not weaken here, and coordination must not fail due to different mobile communications standards or end devices.
“With a software-defined bonding router, we bundle different physical transmission paths into a single logical network,” explains ASCEND Managing Director Johannes Fickeis.
“This enables all integrated participants to access the Internet at all times without disruption, regardless of the systems or end devices used.”

Digitalization in medicine is just one area of application for innovative mobility solutions

In December 2018, RKT Rettungsdienst OHG used ASCEND technology at an event organized by a renowned vehicle manufacturer in southern Europe.
The emergency vehicle, equipped with state-of-the-art Wi-Fi bonding technology, was able to discreetly monitor and document all driving elements of the event.
“This is a great advantage because it means that the central control center of any fleet of vehicles can be mobilized itself and the spatial boundaries of the respective network are finally removed,” says Johannes Fickeis.
He sees many possibilities for which the organizers of major events could rent a mobile WLAN hotspot with a bonding router from ASCEND in the future.
“And there is nothing to stop us installing such devices permanently,” says Fickeis.

Since 2004, ASCEND from Nuremberg has advanced the digital lifestyle like no other company. With WLAN and network concepts, the company supports local authorities, companies and libraries throughout Germany as well as countless public events and functions. Extensive technical expertise in WLAN access, billing and analysis tools is just as much a pillar of the company’s philosophy as unconditional customer service and absolute priority for data security.
